Principal Quality Engineer Architect (Taguspark, Oeiras)

Publicada 10 de Setembro

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineering Architect to take technical ownership of the design, implementation and evolution of advanced quality solutions across complex enterprise environments.

This role requires deep software engineering capability and an established track record of leading architecture and technical delivery. You will connect functional requirements, reusable automation, test data, environments, CI/CD and AI agents across the SDLC, turning architectural decisions into reliable solutions adopted by multiple teams.

You will remain directly involved in coding critical components, resolving complex engineering challenges and guiding implementation

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end Quality Engineering architectures covering automation, orchestration, integrations, test data, environments and observability across multiple applications and teams.
  • Design and implement reusable frameworks, services, connectors and platform components; establish engineering standards and lead code and architecture reviews.
  • Define workflows covering test design, data preparation, execution, failure analysis, maintenance, re-execution and release evidence, with clear ownership and escalation paths.
  • Build and operationalise AI agents and LLM workflows for requirements analysis, scenario generation, coverage assessment, failure diagnosis and controlled self-healing, incorporating evaluation, traceability, privacy and human oversight.
  • Integrate quality controls into CI/CD pipelines, establishing quality gates, risk indicators and actionable feedback for engineering and business teams.
  • Define test environment and data strategies that support repeatable, parallel execution in environments representative of production.
  • Lead solutions from initial design and proof of concept through operational adoption, addressing scalability, resilience, security, maintainability and operating costs.
  • Work with Business Quality Analysts, developers and platform engineers to translate functional inputs into maintainable validation assets and coordinated workflows.
  • Act as the technical reference for teams and clients, owning architectural recommendations, explaining trade-offs and measuring the impact of delivered solutions.

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Software Engineering, Quality Engineering or Test Automation, including at least 3 years with direct responsibility for architecture and technical delivery.
  • Demonstrated ownership of the design, implementation and operational adoption of Quality Engineering or automation solutions spanning multiple integrated applications and teams.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript or Java, with practical experience building reusable components, services and integrations, supported by modular design, automated tests, code reviews and systematic debugging.
  • Strong experience in test architecture and automation across APIs, user interfaces and system integrations, with the ability to define appropriate coverage and validation strategies.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD, Git, cloud and container-based environments, including integration through APIs, events and webhooks.
  • Direct implementation experience with at least one LLM or agent-based solution in operational use, including evaluation, failure handling, traceability and human oversight.
  • Ability to substantiate architectural decisions through engineering trade-offs covering reliability, scalability, maintainability, security, implementation effort, operating costs and measurable value.
  • Experience providing technical direction to engineers and communicating architectural decisions to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Fluent Portuguese and English.

Valuable experience

  • Development of shared engineering platforms or accelerators adopted across projects or organisations.
  • Test data management, service virtualisation and management of dependencies in complex enterprise environments.
  • RAG, tool calling, agent orchestration and observability.
  • Tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Jira/Xray or Azure DevOps.
